Welcome to Old Wire Elementary School! We know that coming to a new school can be a bit scary at first because you don’t know anything about the school or the people in it. But, it’s ok. We are the first fifth grade class here at this school and a few of us will show your around. Maybe if we give you a tour of the school, and answer some of your questions, you will feel like you will love being a Wild Cat just like we do. Let’s start the tour, ok?

(Carlos, Santana, Jake- Front, Into School, Office. Questions: What time is lunch? What time does school start and finish?)) Well, school starts at 8:00 and ends at 3:00 but how you leave school depends on if you are a car rider or a bus rider. The bus gets here at 7:30 and you start towards the bus at 2:47. Car riders get here 7:45 and leave at 3:00. There are teachers and safety patrol kids who help with each one! It is a pretty cool system to leave school.

(Becca, Dillon, library, nurses, workroom. What subjects do we have? What do we need for the classroom?) We study writing, reading, math, science and social studies in our classrooms. We come to the library to check out books. Sometimes we have to go to the nurses’ office if we are not feeling well but she is nice. We also have to go to the workroom to get extra materials for the things we do in the classroom.

(Zack, Jacob, Russel and Nicole- Green Hall and Playground. Where do I have my classes? Where do I have recess?) Oh! You want to know where the classes you have are. If you just watch the pictures you can see the homeroom classes. We all only have one class each with a classroom teacher but we also have five other specials. You will love it. The teachers are cool! If you want to get to recess, you can go down the blue or the green hall and out the doors at the end and there it is! There is a big slide, two small slides, two climbing walls and a bridge. We play tether ball, tag games or green grass games!

(Joanna, Maria, Brandon, Gunner. Blue Hall, Bathroom, Opening into the Cafeteria. Are the teachers nice? Is Ms. Maxey nice?) The teachers here are very nice. Like at Christmas you get to have a party. They are also nice because they teach you things that you can learn and have fun with. Too, they have a lot of patience with you. Mrs. Maxey is nice too because she makes sure we get the learning we need and she also does stuff for the school like by us balls.

(Marlen, Waylon, Raquel- Custodian, Custodian, Stage Will I have friends? Are the kids nice?) So, you are wondering if you are going to have friends? Yes, you are going to have lots of friends. Here everyone is nice, friendly and fun to be around. Your classmates are nice. They are all very caring and love to do fun stuff. You are going to enjoy them a lot.

(Saul, Cody, Kyle. Gym and Art. What stuff do I need for PE and Art?) So, you want to know what we use for PE? We use things like basket balls, hockey sticks and other things for the games Coach has for us. In art, we do lot of different things. Like Picasso paintings, prints and still life. We do many different activities that are fun!

Arcarin, Jackie, Andrea and Leslie Yellow Hall, Music. Councilor. Front Door.)We have music too! Mr. K. makes everything fun. We learn the Chicken Dance, play the recorders and put on special concerts for the school. One of our favorite people is our counselor. Her name is Mrs. Lestor. She has a way to help us figure out many of our problems.

Well, we hope that this tour made you feel a bit better about coming to our school. There will be lots of things happening when you get here but one of the nice things about being an Old Wire Road Wildcat is that we like meeting new people- people just like you!
